Brent shows up on Corey and Shane's doorstep in the dead of winter needing a place to stay—and hopeful his mates will provide it, and not mind he's a frog shifter. Being a shifter is nothing new to Corey and Shane, but neither is being mates. They've been together since before they first met Brent ten years ago—back when Brent was Brenda. Bringing a third into their relationships is more than a little complicated, but they're willing to try. But change is always easier said than done, and Brent wonders if he ever really stood a chance at being happy with the men he has always loved and admired.

The cover sucked me in on this story, seeing that cute little frog sitting there and then the title, "Sharing a Pond."The blurb pretty well covers the basics. Corey and Shane have been together for ten years and are middle aged. They're established in their careers, home, and community. Yes, they are frog shifters - Both green (forgot the specifics on species) -- Despite that their human forms are different in skin coloring. What interesting concepts.
Sharing a Pond is about Corey and Shane accepting their third in their triad: Brent. He is a lot younger at twenty, hasn't been to college, and comes with a lot of baggage. Not possessions but his past which influences him. He is handsome to Corey and Shane and they feel the mate pull as Brent does to them. While it's understandable the three need to cement their relationship, I was amazed at how much page space was for smex. Some of it was justified in claiming each other and developing trust without jealousy. Personally I would have liked more communication between them because it's always a lack of talking that causes problems. And that includes covering the whole issue and bring up that rat stink John and sticking his nose in something that was none of his business. *sigh* No, Brent didn't tell his mates about John.
As their relationship deepens, Brent grows and matures. He put his mates first even when he was hurting. And it takes a lot of courage to stand up and speak of past hurts, not knowing how they'll treat you when they learn the truth. Of course it's easier to blossom when there is love and support and Brent has that.
I loved the 'frog' water scenes and wish there were more. There were a lot of things I enjoyed about this story, but not so much the smex, which I ended up skipping. I'd love to see another story of this threesome. . . . With Cory's job, a move or not, Brent more confident and frog stuff. - Dan's Wife

Sharing a Pond Alex Whitehall Books Reviews
Brent is a frog shifter, and has been kicked out of his pack for not only shifting into a different sex, but also a different species. This was a big twist for me as a reader! Brent was initially Brenda, and born into a werewolf pack, but her first shift was into a frog, and when she took her human form again, she...was a HE! Yikes! Brent's parents supported him until he was 18, but the pack shunned him when he became an adult. Brent had little choice but to shack up with his boyfriend, an abusive partner, for two years.
The story opens with Brent being cared for by a pair of frog shifters he met as a child. Corey and Shane are a bonded frog pair, and Brent is sure they are his fated mates. Brent travels far, through the winter snows, to meet Corey and Shane again and reveal his feelings. He's afraid to break their bond, however, and they are also tentative with him. It makes Brent feel as if he's the only one believing that they are mates.
This is a cute story, with little angst. Brent's nervous about his scars from his ex, and he's unable to really confess all his feelings, because he is scared they won't be reciprocated. The frog shifter idea was fresh to me, and fun. I loved how they would drop into the tub and swim together. It was sad when Brent made some rash decisions and found Shane as a heartbroken frog in the sink! *sigh*
There are some great sexytimes and a touch of BDSM--mostly spanking and a bit of Dom behavior from Corey. I really enjoyed it, and was glad that their relationship seemed to work out. There's a lot of sensuality here, and a genuine affection which develops.
I received a review copy via NetGalley.
I thought this book was cute! This was the first time I have read about frog shifters and I honestly really liked that aspect of this book!
Okay this is were I go into how I am so picky when it comes to Ménages because for them to work for me it has to feel equal. Well I am not sure I got that feeling with this book and I will explain why. So some of this might be spoilers and I am not sure how to explain without telling why I felt a certain way over certain parts of this book.
Brent began his life as Brenda but when he went through his first shift he turned into a frog and a man. Which makes since because some species of frogs can change sex. Well he has always known that Shane and Corey were his mates who also happen to be frog shifters like him but a different kind then him. So the call of his mates drives him back to them and from the start a lot of discussion about Brent being a part of their couple which Shane and Corey were already mated before Brent joins them happen without Brent which I found odd. You would think it would evolve all three of them so I felt like in that aspect Brent was being left out. Also there was a rule were only Shane and Corey could have sex alone but Brent was not aloud to have sex with either man alone. That part really bugged me yes I know they need to grow as a ménage before they felt comfortable with that aspect of their relationship but then Shane and Corey should not have been able to do that without Brent either and I say this also because it seemed to happen a lot in this book were Shane and Cory would have sex without Brent. So yes that bugged me and made it harder for me to see them as a ménage and it working between the three of them. Other than that I did like the shifter parts of this book and the way they were together other than the parts that bugged me. So with this book you do get steam and some angst which the steam in this book was hot!
So all together I did like this book but there were parts that bugged me and left me unsure of how I felt about all three of them together..
I received this book free in exchange for an honest review from Inked Rainbow Reads.
